Lumbar Flexion Distraction

Lumbar Flexion Distraction is manual lumbar traction that affects the biomechanics of the lumbar spine. It is a more conservative approach to treating low back problems before beginning potentially more aggressive forms of treatment.

It is an alternate therapeutic treatment often used with great success for lumbar disc injuries, sciatica and other low back conditions. It is a non-force treatment.

This treatment helps the disc obtain a more normal position, helps the spine regain it's proper motion and assists the soft tissues (muscles and ligaments) around the spine to heal. It's a wonderful option to aid the lumbar spine in healing properly.

The table itself is unique. It creates a traction-pumping action that helps remove some of the pressure from the intervertebral disc, allowing for improved circulation.

During a treatment you lay face down on the table and the doctor locates the specific level of the lumbar spine to be treated and then begins the manual flexion distraction.
